Toby Asplin, Owner: Toby grew up with a hammer in his hand. As a young boy, he followed his dad and uncle around while they remodeled and built homes. By the time he could lift a drill, Toby was boring holes for doorknobs and working on other small projects for his family’s construction business. Toby has also spent several years as the owner of a variety of other businesses, primarily in the IT sector. He brings automation and a strong application of information technology to Handyman Joes. Finally, Toby has an intense passion for taking exceptional care of customers and holds the values of Handyman Joes up as his guide not only for doing business but also for living his life.
Terry Baseler, Office Manager: Terry has an extensive background in project management and customer service. After many years in “corporate America,” Terry came to the small business world and Handyman Joes in 2009. Her background in coordinating corporate construction projects has proven invaluable in juggling schedules for Handyman Joes. Terry is your go-to person for scheduling projects and estimates and is your liaison to the team of skilled technicians at Handyman Joes.
Brad Spencer, Estimator: Brad has more than 25 years of experience in home improvement and repair. His many years of project management have proven invaluable to Handyman Joes, especially in coordinating large remodeling jobs where several trades are required. Brad is your go-to person for estimating jobs large and small and getting all the right people, at the right time, with the right equipment involved in your project. Brad enjoys the creative process when it comes to carpentry and has been instrumental in designing functional and aesthetically pleasing solutions for many of our clients.
Jessica Baseler, Office Assistant: Yes, Jessica is related to Terry. They’re a great mother-daughter team running our office as smoothly as possible. Jessica helps out on a part-time basis answering phones, working up estimates and assisting with other office duties.
Karl Armbrust, Technician: Karl has a broad range of skills, more than twenty years’ experience and an intense focus on craftsmanship. His methodical approach and attention to detail ensure that we produce the utmost in quality for our customers.
Cory Harper, Technician: Cory has 25 years’ experience in all aspects of property maintenance and has completely remodeled multiple apartment complexes. He is especially skilled in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall and painting.
Kevin Mercer, Technician: Kevin comes to us from a local remodeling company. Prior to that, he owned his own handyman and remodeling company. He also has extensive experience performing rental property maintenance and rehabilitation. In total, Kevin has more than ten years’ experience in the construction trades.
Bob Strang, Technician: Bob has worked for Construction Labor Contractors and the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. His skill set is well rounded with an eye for detail. Bob will most likely leave your home cleaner than when he arrived and does an excellent job keeping things neat and orderly during the project as well as when it is finished.
Matt Szczepaniak, Technician: It’s OK if you can’t pronounce Matt’s last name. He’s used to it. Matt’s background includes several years of home renovation and single family rental maintenance and repair. He is also a licensed locksmith.
